Join us every Monday night during term time, from 6:30pm- 8:30pm at St Joseph's Community Club, Brinscall, PR6 8QP for an informal and inclusive music session!
Our sessions offer a welcoming environment where you can not only enhance your musical skills but also forge new friendships and bonds with like-minded individuals who share your love for music. We are a supportive community where every instrument and musician is welcomed, regardless of age, experience, or ability!
You can find a list of the tunes that we regularly play here!
With a repertoire of predominantly folk tunes from British, Irish, European and wider world traditions, we encourage both playing by ear and playing using music manuscript. We have printed and downloadable tune books of the folk tunes in Treble Clef, Bass Clef, Eb and Bb, and can also provide any other transpositions if you require them. All tunes have a melody line, a slightly simpler harmony line and suggested chords although these are a starting point only as we encourage all musicians to explore other possibilities, variations and ad lib with their own creative ideas once they’ve got the tune in their head!
From time to time during these sessions we also open the floor to another genre/inclusive musical activity such as sea shanty singing, or 12 bar blues jam. If one of our participants wants to spearhead this we do our best to facilitate and enable this variety and enrichment of our musical experience.
