Acoustic Cabaret
Each year over the dark months of September - March we organise a series of Acoustic Cabaret evenings on the last Saturday of each month (missing out December) where we invite a musician or band to perform the guest spot in a small intimate concert. We've held these events in several venues over the years, and currently are resident in St Joseph's Community Club in Brinscall where we have have just had a fantastic season. The evening also invites acts from the floor, similar to an open mic night, although we pride ourselves on being purely acoustic, celebrating the true and natural sound as well as keeping things simple and easy to manage. We are lucky to have a committed following of musicians and performers, and have enjoyed diverse contributions with spoken word, poetry, singers, instrumentalists, clog dancers, bagpipes, harp, didgeridoo... you name it! We will welcome any performance ready acts to join our Cabaret nights.
We don't charge for these events, but ask that everyone who is able to contributes a donation of their choice which will go towards paying the guest act with any remaining funds going towards Music For All northwest's activities and expenses. We also have a raffle during the evening to add to these funds.
During our last season of Acoustic Cabarets we decided to start video recording (thanks Scott Jackson!) the live evenings including the performance spots, as well as the guest acts, and have now got a YouTube channel where you can have a look and get a taste of these amazing evenings of performance and variety!
Special Acoustic Concerts
We are looking forward to creating a new series of special invited performances in various intimate and characterful venues. Watch this space...
Blackboard Concerts
Very informal events where any emerging instrumentalist or singer is invited to showcase where they are up to. Everyone is welcome to perform from complete beginners to more advanced musicians at these gentle and inclusive events. And there is cake!
A Blackboard, (or at times a Whiteboard) becomes the programme and running order, with performers choosing to put their own name on the board choosing where in the proceedings they wish to perform.
